Stephanie Aiello, C5 SCI, teaches us how to apply makeup

As you know, each spinal cord injury is very different from the next. Generally, each level of injury will affect specific areas of ones body. Stephanie was 20 years old in 2010, when she fell asleep while driving. She veered off the freeway and crashed in the dessert near Las Vegas. With a C5 injury, she became paralyzed from the chest down. Although she didn’t have the use of her fingers, Stephanie was determined to find a way to apply makeup again. With many hours practicing, and I’m sure a few pokes in her eye with eyeliner, Stephanie has mastered the art. Her arm strength has improved and she has developed specific techniques to make the application process go smoothly.

While I was in LA, I had the privilege of meeting Stephanie. She’s a lovely person and willing and excited to help others learn some of her techniques. She’s posted many videos online to help others learn her tricks of the trade. Take a look!
