Have you ever volunteered or gave money/things to a good cause and experienced a “high” from giving back? For the month of January, Aim2Walk collected clothes and things for donation. The pile of bags and boxes started to take over the staff room with all the generous donations. Once our therapists started to get anxious about the “mess,” we knew it was time to give them to a good home (Megan was very happy once the mess was gone.)
JP had the idea to “give back” when he posted an earlier blog post about our clothes drive. As a team we decided to donate this bunch of clothes to the Canadian Diabetes Association. We were hoping for the organization to pick up all of our donations however we were just outside of their radius. Luckily there’s a big red drop off bin just around the corner of the clinic. Lindsay, Andrew and I loaded up the truck and ventured into the cold.
Once the truck was empty, I had this “high” knowing we were giving back to someone in need. They say that giving back is just as rewarding for the one giving as it is beneficial for the one receiving and I can vouch for that!
Thank you to those who donated to our clothes drive!
